Buddha Art Story

Buddha Art

Buddha Art:
The earliest art, paintings and sculptures of the Buddha have been discovered in Ajanta, India. There, along the banks of the Wagora River a number of aged temples of Buddha, carved from solid stone, have been found, containing large stone sculptures and elaborate wall paintings. These relicts from the past depict the Buddha speaking to gatherings, meditating, and reclining peacefully.

As buddhism spread throughout the world, artists continued to portray the Buddha in both sculptures and paintings. Ahimsa or non-violence, a prominent Buddhist doctrine, has been captured with a serene and peaceful look on the Buddha’s face.

In modern times, there is an increasing demand for such art and sculpture. Asia’s finest artists and craftsmen are producing exacting images in stone, teak, bronze, jade, lapis-lazuli, gold, and other exotic and semiprecious materials. Please visit our gallery and peruse some of the finest pieces available in the world.
